Samford's Isaiah Williams to transfer to Georgia State

BIRMINGHAM - AL — Samford guard Isaiah Williams will transfer to Georgia State and play the final three years of college career closer to home.The native of Buford, Ga. must sit out next season under NCAA transfer rules and then will have three years of eligibility remaining. Georgia State won the Sunbelt Conference championship last season.Williams was the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year last season with 11.9 points and 3.4 assists a game.He's one of 14 players to transfer out of the Samford basketball program the last two seasons, which was a factor in the Bulldogs parting ways with coach Bennie Seltzer.Scott Padgett was named the new head coach earlier this week.
