Second Annual Magic City Miracle kicks off in Birmingham
BIRMINGHAM - AL —
About 2,000 volunteers met up across Birmingham, Sunday, for the Second Annual Magic City Miracle.
The event is sponsored by local United Methodist congregations that encourage people to "re-think" church.
After registering at Linn Park, participants spread out to more than 100 service sites all over the city.
Magic City Miracle organizer, Wade Griffith, says volunteers are working on a number of projects.
"Fixing up a shelter for battered women, helping at the Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, the homeless shelter and the community food bank," Griffith said. "You name it, we're going to be there."
Magic City Miracle has become one of the largest days of service in Birmingham.
