Security measures being taken at local schools

Tuscaloosa County elementary schools will have an added security presence this week.{} Tuscaloosa County Sheriff says that parents were worried, so there will be deputies at all elementary schools Monday morning.

The Jefferson County School District is also increasing security this week.{} There will be deputies posted at Jefferson County schools through until schools close for Christmas break.

Shelby County schools will also have an increased security presence.{} Administrators have reminded teachers to keep classroom keys with them at all times and to notify principals if they see anyone without a visitor sticker.

{}The added security measures come after the mass shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.
