Shelby County fire departments resolving a chemical leak

Multiple HAZMAT crews from Shelby County are along South Shades Crest Road near Morgan Road. Helena Fire Department's Captain Chad Agee says there's a leak from a Norfolk Southern train, but firemen have not identified the substance yet.

There was a strange odor as the train traveled pass a neighborhood near Highway 52.

The community has not been evacuated.

Hazmat crews found a turpentine sulfate leak in one of the freight cars. It is not dangerous. The crews will repair the leak and the train will continue on. Officers had to go car by car to find the leak. It is operated by Norfolk Southern. There were 70 cars on the train. No one was evacuated.{}
