Authorities: Body of missing Homewood teen found in Lake Martin
Update 4 p.m.
Authorities have recovered the body of a teenager who went missing while hunting on Lake Martin in Coosa County, the Alabama Marine Police said via the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
Release from State Trooper Steve Jarrett on behalf of marine police:
"A search for a missing sixteen-year-old hunter/boater from Homewood began yesterday on Lake Martin in Coosa County. The subject was last heard from yesterday at 6 a.m. Agencies that participated in the search were the Alabama Marine Police, Alabama Department of Public Safety (Highway Patrol and Aviation Unit), Alabama Department of Conservation, Coosa County Sheriff's Office, Tallapoosa Rescue Squad and volunteers. The subject's canoe was located today around mid day and the subject's body was located and recovered at 2:30 p.m. Alabama Marine Police are investigating this incident and will release additional information as it becomes available."
A search is currently underway Friday for a teenager who went missing while hunting in Coosa County on Thanksgiving, the sheriff's office confirmed to ABC 33/40.
According to law enforcement, the search is being conducted in an area off of Highway 259 near Lake Martin in Coosa County.
Several state agencies are assisting in the efforts to find the Homewood High School student, who had previously attended Trinity Presbyterian School in Montgomery.
