Shooting at Tuscaloosa gas station; suspect related to shooting gives police false ID (Updates)

Tuscaloosa police are investigating a shooting at the MAPCO Mart gas station on Oscar Baxter Blvd.{} A 26 year old male is listed in critical condition at DCH.{} The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.{} Investigators say the people involved in the shooting{}may have been in an altercation at another location overnight.{}

One suspect is in custody. Police are looking for another person.


Tuscaloosa Police say the person responsible for shooting and critically injuring a 26-year-old at a Mapco gas station has been interviewed by officers and released. Police say self-defense has been claimed and will be investigated further. Three other people have been charged in relation to the Mapco gas station shooting.

The three people who have been charged are as follows:

  • Deantwan Lamont Robertson, 34: Obstructing Governmental Operations, Hindering Prosecution 1st Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Terek Jerome Herron-Antone, 23: Carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, and Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree
  • Cordell Shepherd, 24: {}Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree


Tuscaloosa Police say Cordell Shepherd, who was arrested Saturday, gave a false name to police. He was correctly identified as 19-year-old Justin Shukar Shepherd. Shepherd gave authorities his brother's information in order to avoid an outstanding narcotics warrant. Additional charges are impending, relating to the fact the subject gave false information to avoid arrest.
