Small group with big message marches in Ensley Wednesday

A small Birmingham group with a big message marched along 20th Street and Avenue I in Ensley to promote peace.

The group P.I.T.S., which stands for peace in the streets, includes a number of ex-felons who are committed to giving back.{}

"This is our heart. Nobody presses us to do this," said Executive Director Rev. Tommy Bailey. "We wake up ready to do this because we realize where we came from."

P.I.T.S. plans to march in West End next week and Montgomery at the end of the month. The organization also runs a halfway house for those leaving prison.{}
