Sports bring dads, daughters closer

Dads and their daughters, generally, have an interesting relationship. But big events such as a daughter getting married and having a child can be topped by another simpler event. A recent study finds shared experiences in sports often bring dad and daughter closer.

The study, by the Journal of Human Communication, calls the bond "the closeness in doing." The adult daughters surveyed say, not only did sports allow them to be the center of their dad's attention, but it taught them how to take risks and compete.

Focus @ 4's Marissa Mitchell sat down with one Cullman dad and his daughter who say{}the study holds true for them.
