Update: SR 70 in Shelby County has reopened

Update:{} According to the SCSO, at this time Alabama Hwy 70 in both directions has been reopened.{}Motorist are urged to be cautious throughout today during this period of inclement weather. If anyone traveling the roadways of Shelby County notices any heavy water or icing on the roads please call the Shelby County Sheriff's Office at (205) 669-4181.


According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, At 5:58 a.m. Thursday January 17,2013, Shelby County Sheriff's deputies responded to Alabama Hwy 70 and Dusty Hollow Rd on a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries.{}{}Deputies along with Alabama State Troopers have closed down this portion of Alabama Hwy 70 in both direction so that aid may be rendered to those involved. The injured are being treated at the scene and transported to local hospitals.{}{} At this time, the duration of length for this road closure is unknown.{}{}Those who commute using Alabama Hwy 7 0 to travel to or from Columbiana are encouraged to take an alternate route. This release will be updated as soon as the roadway is open to traffic again.
