CEO Howard Schultz is asking workers at its 120 DC area stores to write "Come Together" on the coffee cups they serve on Thursday and Friday.{}

He says it's a way to"send our elected officials a respectful but potent message, urging them to come together to find common ground."{}

Last week, Congress and President Barack Obama broke for the Christmas holiday still far apart on a plan.{}

If a deal isn't reached, widespread tax increases and automatic government spending cuts will kick in next week.{}
