State troopers: 2 wrecks on I-59 North; 1 person killed

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- Alabama State Troopers are investigating two accidents Thursday on Interstate 59 North, one of which claimed a life, Sgt. Steve Jarrett said.The first accident happened near mile marker 76 around 2:30 p.m. and involved five vehicles, including a jackknifed 18-wheeler. One person was reported injured in the incident, which closed both lanes of the interstate. Traffic has since been reopened.A single-vehicle crash near mile marker 65 left one person dead, troopers said. Authorities will have the road closed until around 4:20 p.m. while they investigate. The identity of the victim hasn't been released. The left lane was reopened shortly after 4 p.m. Get the latest traffic information by clicking here.
