State troopers: 5 people killed in separate accidents in Alabama since Jan. 17

In a span of four days, five people were killed in accidents in five different counties, Alabama State Troopers announced Tuesday.

Three people died in crashes Friday, Jan. 17 in Greene, Madison and Russell Counties and two people died Monday in accidents in DeKalb and Lowndes Counties.

Four of the five fatal accidents were single-vehicle crashes. A four-vehicle wreck in Lowndes Co. on Monday claimed the life of 64-year-old Clara Jordan, of Fort Deposit.

All five accidents remain under investigation. The victims' identities have been released in all but one crash -- a fiery wreck off County Road 20 in Greene Co., just 11 miles north of Boligee, where a driver was killed after hitting a tree.
