State troopers: Man responsible for fatal accident in Northport was intoxicated, driving in wrong direction

An accident report released by Alabama State Troopers on Tuesday revealed the man who struck a vehicle in Northport earlier this month, killing a woman and injuring her husband and son was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Jessie Hannah, 71, of Northport, was driving under the influence and in the wrong lane of Highway 171 when his 1997 Toyota Tacoma slammed into 42-year-old Michael Keith Sartain's 1997 Dodge Ram pickup truck on the night of Jan. 9, killing 45-year-old Lisa Sartain.

Both drivers were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center while Sartain's son, Jonas, was airlifted to Children's of Alabama in Birmingham. All three are expected to recover from their injuries.

It is unknown at this time what charges, if any, will be filed against Hannah.
