Stillman College has a new Thanksgiving tradition.
The Tigers will play Alabama State this November in the 90th Turkey Day Classic. The game will be played at Hornets Stadium in Montgomery.
"It's a big game. It's a well publicized game," Stillman Athletic Director Curtis Campbell told the Birmingham News. "So it was an opportunity for us...to play in the Montgomery area. None of the SIAC schools are in Montgomery. So, we don't get an opportunity to play there. This was an opportunity to go there."
Stillman replaces Tuskegee in the Turkey Day Classic tradition. Tuskegee had played ASU on Thanksgiving Day every year since 1924, but the timing of the game forced Tuskegee to miss the NCAA Division II playoffs and any chance at a national title.
Last season Tuskegee would have likely been a number 1 seed in the NCAA Division II playoffs, if it's schedule had allowed it to compete in the postseason.
