Supreme Court ruling could affect Duke murder sentence

      {} {} A recent Supreme Court ruling could once more reduce the sentence for Mark Anthony Duke.

      {} {} Duke was a teenager in 1999, {}when he was sentenced to death for the murders of his father and three other people in Shelby County. {}Two of the victims were children.

      {} {} But a 2005 Supreme Court ruling banned the execution of juveniles, and Duke's sentence became life without parole. {}But now, Duke's sentence could be reduced again.

      {} {} The Supreme Court recently ruled that states cannot impose mandatory sentences of life without parole for juveniles convicted of murder. {}The sentence may still be given, but only after a sentencing hearing.

      {} {} A court must now decide whether the ruling will impact duke's case.
