Suspect arrested after Monday's incident at Tuscaloosa apartment

Charges have been filed after Monday's incident at Stone Creek Apartments in Tuscaloosa.

Police officers and sheriff's deputies were called to the apartment complex on Old Birmingham Highway Monday afternoon. They received a 911 call stating that the caller heard gunshots. Officers arrived at the scene and spoke to Rodney Anderson. Anderson told officers he was asleep when he heard somebody knocking on the door and then the door slide open. He said two individuals asked if they could use the restroom and he told them they could. Anderson says about 10 minutes later he noticed they had not returned so he went to check on them. He stated that he grabbed his gun and found them walking up the hallway with either the shotgun or rifle. Anderson says the two individuals fired at him with either a shotgun or rifle twice and he returned fire. He stated he then got out of the apartment and believed the two were still in the apartment when officers and deputies arrived on scene. Anderson said he did not know the suspects and he was not hurt. After an investigation, deputies later found no one inside the apartment and no shots were fired at Anderson. It was later determined Anderson shot multiple times inside his apartment.

Investigators charged Anderson with one count of discharging a firearm inside city limits, one count of false reporting to law enforcement, and one count of reckless endangerment. He was arrested Tuesday evening.
