Suspect arrested for arson in Tuscaloosa

A 55-year-old Tuscaloosa man faces two counts of second-degree arson stemming from fires set three locations.{}

Richard Monte Brown is accused of setting fires on East Hargrove Road, Dubois Terrace and E. McFarland Boulevard. According to police, Brown was sitting on a fence in Snow Hinton Park watching a dumpster fire while having an open container of beer at his feet.{} He was questioned about the fires and arrested for public intoxication and open beverage.{}

Brown was taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail but later bonded out.{} Investigators obtained warrants on Brown for all three fires and located him on E. 22nd Avenue Tuesday afternoon.{}

Brown is at the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $33,000 bond.
