Suspect arrested for robbery & kidnapping in Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery and kidnapping case.{} Rafeal Omar Nevels is charged with 2 counts of first degree robbery and 1 count of first degree kidnapping.{} The 26 year old is at the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $160,000 bond.


Just before 10:00 Sunday night, officers received information of a victim in a vehicle that was in danger.{} The vehicle was traveling on Crescent Ridge Road at a high rate of speed.{} Police initiated a traffic stop at Crescent Lane and took Nevels into custody.{} The victim told police that he received a phone call from Nevels stating he needed help.{} The unidentified victim went to pick him up and after Nevels got inside he pulled a handgun and demanded money.{} The two drove to a bank and withdrew money from the ATM.


Police say Nevels also matched the description of a suspect that committed a robbery earlier Sunday evening at the Lucky Dollar Food Mark on Crescent Ridge Road.{}
