Suspects charged in Pelham meth lab

On Friday, September 9, the Pelham Police Department responded to a juvenile pickup order at the Oak Mountain Lodge in Pelham.{} The officers found an active methamphetamine laboratory.{} The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force and other emergency agencies were contacted for assistance.{} Four Pelham police officers and a K-9 officer inhaled the chemical fumes at the site and received treatment.


25 year old Jacob Kenneth Mykicz from Homewood and 36 year old Kristie Marie Gilley from Hanceville were arrested.{} Both were charged with unlawful manufacture of controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a noxious substance, four counts of third degree assault, and harassment of a police animal.{} Gilley was also charged with chemical endangerment of a child.

A juvenile was taken into custody and taken to the Shelby County Juvenile Detention Facility.{}
