Jordan Swing scored 24 points and Rod Rucker added 18 as UAB snapped its six-game losing streak with a 78-72 win in overtime against UTEP at Bartow Arena Wednesday night.
The Blazers picked up their first Conference USA victory with the win.
The Miners held a two-point lead with just five seconds remaining in the game, but Swing made a game-saving layup to force overtime, then scored six of UAB's 14 points in the extra period to put away UTEP (11-8, 4-2 C-USA) for good.
McKenzie Moore's 18 points led UTEP, which had won 5 of its previous six games.
UAB (9-12, 1-5 C-USA) will host Southern Miss Saturday with tipoff set for 7 p.m.
