Sylacauga policewant facial hair? Buy a permit

In an effort to raise money for the departments Project Lifesaver Initiative the Sylacauga Police Department is having its first ever "Facial Hair Fundraiser."{} SPD has a no facial hair policy for its staff.{} Chief Chris Carden is willing to bend on that policyfor a price.{}

Employee's that wish to take part in the fundraiser are asked to make a $10.00 donation to purchase a "shaving permit" from the Police Chief. This permit entitles the employee to let it grow from February 1 until April 1. {}At the end of the fundraiser the normal policy concerning facial hair goes back into effect and the beards and mustaches must go.

All the proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated in support of the Sylacauga Police Departments Project Lifesaver Initiative. Project Lifesaver helps provide rapid response to save lives and reduce potential for serious injury for adults and children who wander due to Alzheimer's, autism, Down syndrome, dementia and other related brain disorders. This is done by the user wearing a small bracelet type device that transmits a signal to an antenna used by first responders.
