Sylacauga woman, 75, killed in accident near Mama Ree's Restaurant on Hwy. 280
An accident Friday involving a tractor-trailer near Mama Ree's Restaurant claimed the life of a Sylacauga woman, Alabama State Troopers said.
Key Deputy Wood, 75, was killed after the 1999 Dodge Intrepid she was driving was rear-ended by a 2009 Peterbilt truck as she pulled onto Highway 280 from the restaurant's parking lot around 12:20 p.m. Her car was crushed on impact before sliding across the highway.
The Birmingham man driving the truck, Merdis Bell, was not injured.
State Troopers continue to investigate.
