Talks begin again over possible property tax increase to support Birmingham schools


Would you pay more in property taxes if the increase supported Birmingham City Schools? School leaders have been discussing the possibility of a 3-millage property tax increase. If Jefferson County leaders support it, the proposal could end up on a ballot next year. In 2012, Birmingham School Board President Dr. Craig Witherspoon voiced support for the increase, saying it would raise about $9 million each year for schools.
