Tax returns slow in coming for thousands in state
If you are owed a tax refund from Alabama and have yet to receive it, the state soon will have to pay you interest on that refund. Beginning July 15, any refund check not yet mailed will draw four percent interest from Alabama's coffers.
The state has yet to pay more than 25,000 income tax refunds because the money just isn't there.
Now, here's more bad news. The state Finance Department can't say when those approved refunds will be paid!
To check on the processing status of your refund return, go to "Where's My Refund" at www.revenue.alabama.gov or call the refund hotline at 1.800.558.3912.
