Teachers get school supply surprise

A couple of elementary school teachers got a big surprise Tuesday morning.{}

Debbie Blalock, teacher at Rocky Ridge Elementary School received a surprise visit from Office Max. She was honored with $1,000 worth of school supplies.

It is part of the "A Day Made Better" program.

On average, teachers spend about $1,000 out of their own pockets for school supplies.

Needless to say, Ms. Blalock was quite surprised and honored to be nominated.

"It's overwhelming, I'm humbled, I'm thrilled. Thank you so much is all I can say. It's just a great surprise today. A big, big surprise," said a beaming Blalock.

Office Max also surprised a teacher at Hall Kent Elementary School in Homewood.

In the last five years, "A Day Made Better" has contributed more than $18 million in grants and supplies to more than 29,000 teachers.
