Tennessee couple dies in Alabama plane crash

The victims of a single-engine plane crash in Cullman County near Smith Lake have been identified as a dentist and his wife from Tennessee.

Dr. Gary Cohen, 61, and his wife Nancy, 60, were killed when their plane, a Mooney M20, went down less than 200 miles away from their destination, Sumner County Regional Airport in Gallatin, Tenn..{} They were on their way home from Destin, Florida.{}

The couple reported problems shortly before crashing in a pasture less than a mile away from the lake.{} There were reports of severe weather in the area around the time of the crash.

The bodies have been sent to a forensic lab in Huntsville for autopsies, according to Cullman County Sheriff Mike Rainey.

Cohen's dental office in Hendersonville, Tenn. confirmed the deaths.
