Thank you gestures pour into area schools Monday

After thousands of students spent Tuesday night at schools across Alabama, gestures from parents poured in Monday morning.

At Helena Middle School, the conference room was filled with baked goods and cards.

"We did not expect this at all," said Assistant Principal Jennifer Cleere. "I was coming down the hall this morning and I saw a mound of donuts, and the food just kept coming in."

Emails, donuts and chili were some of the many thank you's from parents to staff at Creek View Elementary in Alabaster.

"We've just gotten a ton of notes letters from parents telling us thank you," said Principal Brent Byars.

A group of Helena parents banded together to raise money for a meal from Home Plate Cooking. To donate, visit or call the restaurant this week. Extra money will be donated to police and firefighters who helped children last week.
