Birmingham will host the first screening of the film, "The Watsons Go to Birmingham."
The film is based on the novel which chronicles a family's trip to Birmingham in 1963 when the 16th Street Baptist Church was bombed.
ABC 33/40 has learned the film's creator Tonya Lewis Lee, who is also director Spike Lee's wife, will be in town for the screening.
It's scheduled to take place at the Alabama Theater during the city's Empowerment Week in September. The film will also air on television on the Hallmark Channel September 20.
