Tide basketball adds Reggie Witherspoon to coaching staff

TUSCALOOSA - AL — Reggie Witherspoon is joining the Alabama basketball coaching staff.Witherspoon will replace Tony Pujol on the staff. It's unclear of Pujol, who has been on Anthony Grant's staff since 2006 at VCU, will remain with the Tide in another capacity.Witherspoon was the head coach at Buffalo for 14 seasons before he was let go after the 2013 season. He coached the Bulls to the postseason four times and was named the Mid-American Conference coach of the year in 2004."Reggie bring a wealth of experience and coaching expertise," Grant said in a statement through school. "His abilities in developing talent and teaching the game are highly respected amongst his peers. His knowledge, combined with his impeccable character and ability to relate to and connect with people will make his transition seamless."Alabama finished 13-19 overall and 7-11 in the SEC last season. The Tide missed the postseason for the first time in three years.
