Auburn softball has parted ways with the only coach the program has ever known.
Tina Deese has been dismissed after 17 seasons and 562 wins. She was hired to start the Auburn softball program from scratch in 1995.
"I deeply appreciate Tina's many contributions to our program," Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs said in a press release. "She started it from the ground up, and I will always appreciate her role in establishing a foundation for Auburn softball. I made this decision because I felt it was time to move in another direction."
Auburn has been invited to eight NCAA Regionals in the past 10 years, but the Tigers struggled this season and finished 7-17 in the SEC.
Auburn was 212-272 against the rest of the league under coach Deese.
