April is Women's Eye Health and Safety Month.
According to the group Prevent Blindness America, women - more often than men - have serious eye diseases. Prevent Blindness America wants to stress the importance of baseline exams for everyone, beginning at age 40. The organization also recommends you follow a healthy diet, including dark, leafy greens. Also, don't smoke, always protect your eyes from UV rays, and make sure your doctor is aware of any family history of eye disease.
