The U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program delivers, yet again.
The Toys for Tots donations poured in over the past 26 hours during a last-minute toy drive, and the goal of 80,000 donations in the Birmingham metro-area has been reached.
The 26-hour toy drive began at 4 p.m. on Tuesday and ended just minutes ago at 6 p.m.
The mission of the Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
A "Wrap up" party will be held on Thursday night at Iron Horse Cafe in Hoover to celebrate the successful campaign.
