The little Ashville boy who bravely battled a rare brain cancer before passing away two days ago will be laid to rest Friday, the family announced on the Prayers for Thomas Sullivan Facebook page Tuesday.
"With the blink of an eye, the Lord has called our son home." the Sullivans posted on the page Sunday, revealing their son's death.
Six-year-old Thomas Sullivan, also known as Superman and Man of Steel, died from complications related to his Medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor that forms when normal cells in the brain change and grow uncontrollably, leading to the growth of a large mass. Doctors discovered the plum-sized tumor in his brain a little over a year ago.
A viewing will be held Thursday at Flow of the Spirit Church in Ashville for family members from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. before opening to the public from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Celebration services will also be held at the church Friday beginning at 1 p.m. with a procession via fire truck, one of Sullivan's passions in life, to follow to a graveside at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville. His final resting place will be in the Garden of Atonement.
A heartwarming tribute video was posted to YouTube in remembrance of Sullivan shortly after his passing. Watch the video above or click here.
