Troy University professor found dead in hot tub at her home in Auburn
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a Troy University professor found dead in her hot tub in the backyard of her home in Auburn. The Lee County Coroner's Office said 67-year-old Myrna Kathryn Ness was found unresponsive shortly after 9 p.m. Friday. The coroner said in a statement Saturday that no foul play was suspected. Ness' body was taken to Montgomery for an exam to determine the cause of her death. Authorities say Ness didn't respond to phone calls from a friend, who then went to her house on Shelton Mill Road to check on her and found her in the hot tub and called 911. The coroner's statement said Ness has been a professor of psychology at Troy University's Phenix City campus.
