Monday morning, Trussville Board of Education approved a final monetary settlement with former school superintendent Dr. Suzanne Freeman.
Earlier this month, the board voted to nullify Dr. Freeman's previous four-year contract.
Freeman will receive a maximum of $600,000, payable monthly over a two-year period. This amount will be reduced by the amount of any compensation she were to receive as a superintendent of another school system in Alabama between now and June 30, 2014.
Until that time, Freeman will serve as an administrative officer of Trussville City Schools. Her duties will be solely determined and supervised by the interim or new superintendent of Trussville City Schools. Freeman will not maintain an office on school system property.
The president of the Trussville City School Board, Bill Roberts, says the board expects to name an interim superintendent soon.
