Tuscaloosa Academy Wins First Football Championship

Tuscaloosa Academy players celebrate by kissing their AISA Class 3A State Championship trophy

Tuscaloosa Academy's Kyle Andrews came up with the key play at the key moment.

Andrews blocked an extra point with under three minutes to go, and the Knights went on to beat Lee Scott, 27-26, in the AISA Class AAA championship.

It's Tuscaloosa Academy's first state football title.

"It was very emotional," Knights quarterback Jonathan Plott said. "We've been working since we were in 8th grade and this means everything to us."

Tuscaloosa Academy wasn't in the Alabama Sports Writers Association Top 10 when the{}year started, but the Knights took care of business. They went 13-0, the first undefeated season in the programs history, to go along with football first state championship.
