Tuscaloosa County's cold case unit reopens a 1970's homicide

The newly formed Tuscaloosa County Cold Case Unit has reopened a homicide investigation from the 1970's.{}

Detectives in the Cold Case Unit are exhuming the body of an African American woman, who was killed and her body found in McCalla.{} She was buried as Jane Doe.

The Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted the unit about this woman.{} They reportedly had new information about who the woman may be.

The Cold Case Unit believes the woman's homicide may be linked to another on that happened around the same time.

DNA facial Reconstruction will be used to determine a possible identity.{} It will be a couple weeks before detectives receive the results.
