Tuscaloosa police: 'Major supplier of steroids' arrested after 3-year investigation

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- A Coker man accused of being a "major supplier of steroids" in west Alabama was arrested earlier this week following a three-year investigation, Tuscaloosa police said.

Ronald Eugene Wedgeworth, 47, was arrested at his home in the 11000 block of Lake Robinwood Road on Sunday and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

West Alabama Narcotics Task Force agents executed a search warrant at Wedgeworth's home and discovered Wedgeworth in possession of large amounts of liquid and powdered steroids, Viagra, marijuana, two handguns and lab equipment used to manufacture steroids. According to police, the drugs and other items seized at the property has an approximate street value of $200,000.

Wedgeworth is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on bonds totaling $325,000.
