Sgt. Dale Phillips reports that 64-year-old Kathy White has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. White shot herself after shooting and killing her step-son, 43-year-old Michael White, at her mobile home on Koffman Loop Road in Northport late Friday morning.
The Tuscaloosa County sheriff's office has released the names of the victims in an attempted murder-suicide in Northport Friday.
According to Sgt. Dale Phillips, an ongoing domestic dispute led to 64-year-old Kathy White shooting her step-son, 43-year-old Michael White, before turning the handgun on herself. Both family members were transported to DCH Hospital, where the younger White was pronounced dead shortly after arriving while the victim's step-mother remains in "grave condition."
The shooting occurred around 11:30 a.m. at a mobile home owned by Kathy White and her husband and located in the Koffman Loop Road area of Northport. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, White was found sitting on the front steps of the residence with the gun still in her hand.
"A few minutes later, Mrs. White shot herself," Phillips said.
An investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities are on the scene of a double shooting in Northport, fire and rescue confirmed to ABC 33/40.
Officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired at 13744 Koffman Loop around 11:30 a.m. Upon arriving, two people were found suffering from gunshot wounds. Their conditions are unknown at this time.
