Tuscaloosa County sheriff's deputies arrested a teenager who attempted to break into and burglarize a local church Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities responded to a burglary alarm at a church located in the 7000 block of Old Greensboro Road. An alert citizen reported seeing a white male with a knife leaving the scene to a dispatcher, who then relayed the information to a deputy at the scene. The suspect, 18-year-old Drew Austin Green, was located and arrested a short time later near the Southridge subdivision.
Green has been charged with attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools. He is currently being held in the county jail bonds totaling $8,000.
"This is a great example of how we depend on you, the citizen, to be our eyes and ears. It's Community Policing at its best," Chief Deputy Ron Abernathy said in a release.
