Two Alabama hospitals will change hands

Two hospitals in east Alabama have a new owner.{} Riverview Regional Medical Center in{}Gadsden and Stringfellow Memorial in Anniston have been purchased by Community Health Systems from Health Management Associates. HMA is the smaller of the two health systems.

The boards of both companies have approved the sale, which is expected to close by the end of March.

CHS owns eight hospitals in Alabama, including Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham. Trinity{}soon with relocate to{}a new facility on U.S. Highway 280.
