2 charged in rape, kidnapping & robbery; 1 suspect on the loose

One man is behind bars at the Jefferson County Jail charged with kidnapping, rape and robbery. A second suspect, also accused in the crime, remains on the loose.{} The incident happened on Saturday at around 2:30 p.m.{}

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, the two suspects lured a 22-year-old male and his 18-year-old girlfriend to a secluded dirt road off of Flat Top Road by promising a share of some hidden money in the area in exchange for a ride.{}

Upon arriving at the location, the two men attacked the couple, cutting the boyfriend on the neck with a knife before tying him to a tree. One of the suspects then attacked the victim's girlfriend and raped her.{} The men then took the male victim's car and kidnapped his girlfriend.{}

Following the attack, the male victim was able to break free, flag down a passerby who gave him a ride to a nearby convenience store where he called for help.

The car was later found in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Brent and the female victim was found inside the store.{} Surveillance video captured one of the suspects, 48-year-old Scott Charles Blaisdell, leaving the store when deputies arrived.{}

A search with the assistance of a K9 unit was conducted, but the suspect was not found.{} Later that day, Blaisdell was captured by Bibb County Sheriff's Deputies as he tried to hitchhike out of town. He is charged with rape, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and two counts of kidnapping.{}
