Two children die in fire; investigation continues for cause

Fire investigators in Decatur are stillsearching for a cause of the March 27 apartment fire that claimed the lives oftwo children.

Decatur Fire Marshall Jason Jones sayswitnesses are still being interviewed and hopes to have a cause of the deadlyfire this week.

The scene of last week's fire at the WestRidge Apartments has turned into a memorial for 4-year-old Mar'LenaMiland and 2 year-old Dexter Miland Jr.{}Flowers, balloons, and signs have been placed at the entrance to the complex.

Authorities believethe fire started in their bedroom while they were sleeping and were unable toescape. The parents and another sibling made it out, as did the family livingin the apartment upstairs.{} A third apartmentwas damaged, but the home owner was not home at the time.

Funeralservices will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday atUnited Pentecostal Jubilee House of Prayer.{}
