Two Locations Hosting World's Largest Swim Lesson

Local children will have an opportunity to send a message and try to break a world record Tuesday.

The world's largest swim lesson will take place at two locations: The Hoover Recreation Center and Splash Adventure. Registration will begin at{} 9 a.m. at both locations, the lesson begins at 10 a.m. It is only 30 minutes.

A spokesperson for the Hoover Recreation Center says the center is expecting nearly 100 people to participate.

Organizers say this event raises awareness about drowning. Drowning remains the leading cause of unintended, injury related death for children ages 1-5., and the second leading cause of accidental death for children under 14.

{} The current swim lesson record is 24,873 participants representing 15 different countries across five continents.
