Two longtime Shelby County mayors ousted in runoffs

Longtime Helena Mayor Charles "Sonny" Penhale lost the runoff election on Tuesday night to Mark Hall.{} Hall ousted Penhale by earning 63 percent of the 3,321 votes.

Penhale served as mayor for over 40 years.

David Frings, the Mayor of Alabaster since 2000, lost his seat to Marty Handlon.{} Handlon will take over for Frings after she gained 55 percent of the 4,604 votes.
