Two people are dead Tuesday after a house fire on 30th Court North in Birmingham.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Chief C.W. Mardis tells ABC 33/40 the bodies of a male and a female were discovered after the fire was put out just after 1:00 a.m. Tuesday. Chief Mardis says the two people appeared to have died from smoke inhalation, and investigators believe a space heater caused the fire. Still, Chief Mardis says the investigation is ongoing.
Neighbors say the woman moved in the house this past summer, and her male friend was with her at the time of the fire.
The coroner has not yet released the identities of the victims.

The coroner has identified the female victim as 56-year-old Margaret Jean Carroll. The male victim's identity will be released following the notification of his family.
