UAB basketball beats Nebraska for 700th win

UAB used a hot shooting second half to beat Nebraska, 87-74 at the Charleston Classic tournament in South Carolina.

The Blazers (4-1) shot better than 82 percent after halftime (19-of-23) and outscored the Cornhuskers 21-10 over the final 10 minutes of the game.

Nebraska led 34-31 at halftime.

The win is UAB's 700th in program history. Nebraska was UAB's first opponent on Nov. 24, 1978.

Five Blazer players scored in double figures, led by Chad Frazier's game-high 32 points. It's his second straight game with at least that many. Frazier scored 34 in Thursday's loss to New Mexico.

Rod Rucker finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Fahro Alihodzic scored 16. Robert Williams and Jordan Swing scored 11 each.

The Blazers will play either Temple or Georgia in the 5th place game of the tournament on Sunday.
