UAB basketball gets commitment from junior college guard

UAB basketball got a commitment from junior college guard Thaddeus Rideau.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard was an NJCAA Division II All-American last season for Brown Mackie College in Salina, KS. Rideau averaged 20 points a game and shot nearly 48 percent from the floor.

"They sold me on their playing style," Rideau told "That's the style I played in junior college. I'm a flat-out scorer and I've got a good feel for getting my teammates involved."

Rideau committed to UAB while on an official visit and plans to officially sign soon.

His addition would give UAB basketball 13 scholarship players for next season.
