UAB Health System employee fired after arrest for carrying concealed weapons on hospital property

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- A UAB Health System employee was fired this summer after being an arrested for allegedly bringing guns on hospital property, ABC 33/40 has learned.

Joe Paul Tortorice, 56, was arrested July 15 by UAB police after he was found carrying concealed weapons. Tortorice, who was fired from his job shortly after the incident, was released from jail on bond Wednesday.

Tortorice is scheduled to appear in court in October.
