UAB treating water at Women and Infants Center
BIRMINGHAM - AL — The 5th through 7th floors at UAB's Women and Infants Center continue their recovery from legionella infection. Chlorine dioxide will be added to the water that will kill any remaining legionella. This process will last from 10pm Friday until 6pm Saturday, which makes the use of water on the 5th-7th floors limited. Anthony Patterson, Senior VP for Inpatient Services at UAB Hospital, says the water will be similar to that of a chlorinated swimming pool. In parts, the entire facility will receive similar remediation.
